Our Renewable Energy engineer will be able to advise you on the best solution for your home and business, saving you energy and using energy more efficiently effectually making Guernsey more greener and saving you on your utility bills.
J.E.R. offer a range of Solar Panels like LG, Trina and Panasonic depending on the budget and design of you building/roof. On-roof solar panels will sit about 50mm above your roof and will generate electricity to second sun light hits them.
J.E.R. In-roof solar panels are Viridian Solar. Viridian Solar Panels are integrated into your roof, you will have to remove you tiles to install this system but once finished the solar panels look like part of the roof a very nice flush finish.
Like Solar PV, this technology harnesses the power of free sunlight and the technology is cost-efficient to install. Heating technology is complicated and the systems need to be very well designed to deliver the optimum efficiencies and ensure they are safe.
Solar Thermal works even in cloudy weather and requires very little maintenance. If the ambient sunlight isn’t enough to heat all the hot water, a backup boiler or heat-pump would provide the additional heat. Systems last for between 20 -25 years, depending on the quality of the system.
ASHPs offer efficiencies of around 320 per cent compared to 400 per cent for Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHPs) and 80-85 per cent for a typical commercial boiler.
The RHI payments are slightly lower than for GSHPs, however they are more affordable and easier to install.
Solar electricity systems capture the sun’s energy using photovoltaic cells. The cells don’t need direct sunlight to work – they can still generate electricity on a cloudy day – but generate more electricity in stronger sunshine. The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to run household appliances and lighting.
The power of a PV cell is measured in kilowatts peak (kWp). That’s the rate at which it generates energy at peak performance in full direct sunlight during the summer.
Solar panels are lightweight and highly adaptable. Ideally, you need a south, south-east or south west facing roof space that isn’t shaded. Even the smallest space can generate a worthwhile amount of electricity but we wouldn’t recommend installing panels on north-facing roofs.
Generally, installations fall under permitted development rights so planning permission is not required but always check first.
Solar panels are robust and carry warranties of 5-10 years, depending on the manufacturer. They are also guaranteed to perform at no less than 80 per cent of their original performance outputs up for up to 25 years.
Solar PV panels have no moving parts and need little maintenance – you’ll just need to keep the panels relatively clean and make sure trees don’t begin to overshadow them. Panels are mounted at an angle and in most cases, rain water is sufficient to keep them clean and ensure optimal performance.
The sonnenBatterie is a high-tech storage system that has proven itself in thousands of households – every day. The combination of a PV system and a sonnenBatterie will allow you to cover about 75% of your yearly energy requirement with self-produced and clean energy. Since your energy is being generated on your roof and not by some anonymous energy provider you are more independent than before. So take your energy future into your own hands and reduce your energy costs to a minimum. The decision for a sonnenBatterie is also a decision for the highest standards in safety and quality that “Made in Germany” stands for.

J.E.R. offers a one-stop-shop for ASHPs. Our in-house experts take care of every aspect of the installation and you get peace of mind, knowing that we are fully accredited. ASHPs don’t require large areas of land, making them ideal for businesses on industrial estates or other confined locations. Their relatively low installation cost makes them attractive to companies on tighter budgets.
